Anthropic released Opus 5.5 on September 22 and Sonnet 5.5 on September 28. Same number, different names, and no obvious answer to the obvious question. Which one do you use?
The Simplest Answer: Start with Sonnet. Move up to Opus when the work runs long, the judgment gets hard, or a wrong answer gets expensive.
